The flare comes from the back seam rather than from extra fabric at the hem, which is why the coat moves without ever looking tent-shaped. That seam is also what gives the waist somewhere to go when the belt is tied. This is a lighter coat than the winter pieces in the range, so it is the one for March and October rather than January. Pink is the outlier; beige is the version that gets worn most.
